Welcome

The following are reviews of some of my favorite children's books. Many of them have won prestigious awards, and all of them ignite the imagination like a good book should. I hope that you can enjoy these books just as much as I have!

Olivia

Falconer, I. (2009). Olivia. NY: Atheneum.

Summary
This book takes us through a day in the life of Olivia. She is not your ordinary little girl. Full of personality, she makes a typical day anything but ordinary. As she plays with her little brother, goes to the beach, and goes to the museum, we see just how mischievous, playful, and special she is.

Notes
This is not your typical picture book. In this Caldecott Honor book, Olivia’s escapades are illustrated in artistic black and white drawings with bold splashes of red. The reader is able to see visual images of the adventures Olivia and her family have. The illustrations of this book are certainly as unique and bold as Olivia.

Extension:
Writing prompt: Write a paragraph explaining what makes you unique.
