Welcome

The following are reviews of some of my favorite children's books. Many of them have won prestigious awards, and all of them ignite the imagination like a good book should. I hope that you can enjoy these books just as much as I have!

It's So Amazing

Harris, R. (1999). It’s So Amazing. Boston, MA: Candlewick Press.

Summary:
This informational book teaches young readers everything they need to know on reproduction, bodies, and sex. Loaded with facts and helpful pictures, this book informs without overwhelming. Aimed at a young audience, this book uses a fun bird character that asks questions reflecting those readers might have. The use of this clever cartoon makes a potentially embarrassing subject seem easy to talk about.

Notes:
This book is divided into chapters and easy to navigate for students looking to research only one facet of reproduction. Although the book could rival a textbook with the amount of information it contains, the use of cartoons and graphics makes it enjoyable to read and far less intimidating to young readers.

Extension:
Give students an anatomy diagram from the book and have them label it.
