Welcome

The following are reviews of some of my favorite children's books. Many of them have won prestigious awards, and all of them ignite the imagination like a good book should. I hope that you can enjoy these books just as much as I have!

The Competition

The Competition by Marcia Clark

Citation:

Clark, M. (2014). The Competition. Mulholland Books.

Summary and review:

This thriller follows attorney Rachel Knight as she investigates a horrendous Columbine-style shooting. Along with a crew of fellow investigators including judges, detectives, and legal aides, Rachel seeks out on-the-run criminals. The quick plot is full of suspense and surprise twists. Rachel's character is lovable, relatable, and smart, but the suspect(s) she is after put her intelligence to the test. She knows time is on the line and that the killers plan to keep staging big attacks until their death, but how many lives will be lost before she can zero in on the monsters behind the crimes? This is Clark's 4th Rachel Knight novel, but readers will enjoy this book even if they haven't read any of her other novels.

Genre: Fiction
Subgenres: Adult fiction, realistic fiction, criminal/legal system
