Welcome

The following are reviews of some of my favorite children's books. Many of them have won prestigious awards, and all of them ignite the imagination like a good book should. I hope that you can enjoy these books just as much as I have!

The Graveyard Book

Gaiman, N. (2008). The Graveyard Book. NY: HarperCollins.

Summary:
Bod Owens is not your average boy. He has grown up in a very peculiar place - a graveyard to be exact - and this has influenced how he perceives life. When someone comes along and threatens his life, he must fight alongside his dead comrades to keep it. However, this battle might force to him giving up life as he knows it forever.

Notes:
This high-fantasy novel includes a whole slew of fantastical characters who are dead and have different abilities because of it. The novel is an excellent example of setting and characterization, with a lot of time spent on rich descriptions of both.

Extension:
Imagine that Bod meets Scarlett again in the future. Write a scene where he introduces himself to her. Include elements of both characters as described in the novel.
